New Scottish Holiday Cottage to join whichcottage.com
We are delighted that No 1 Cove is now part of the whichcottage family. Set in a small and idyllic settlement on the west of Scotland on the west side of Loch Ewe, this cottage has stunning views of the mountains of Wester Ross. This area of Scotland is renowned for some of the oldest geology in the world, creating some beautiful mountainous scenery.
Walking and Climbing
For keen climbers looking for accommodation, No 1 Cove is ideal as a self catering option for walking and climbing. It will mean you have an very comfortable ‘home’ to go back to at the end of a wonderful day. For those looking for a gentler walking there is still plenty of coastline walks in the area.
Cove Harbour and Boats
The cottage sits just above the rugged coastline of Loch Ewe, a short walk from Cove which is an ideal place to launch your boat should you wish to holiday with your own boat or just watch the boats coming and going! As Cove is near the sea, there are also many beautiful beaches and sandy bays close by with Firemore beach a short drive back along towards Poolewe. This is a wonderful spot for picnicking, canoeing and safe paddling for children. Making the cottage and ideal holiday let for families too.
For the keen fisher or even amateur, there is ample opportunity for fishing based from this holiday accommodation. There is the opportunity to purchase permits for lochs and rivers with the addition of sea angling trips from Gairloch.
Wildlife enthusiasts will also enjoy the area of Poolewe as there are a number of licensed operators running marine wildlife tours (these mostly operate between Easter and October). The wildlife is varied with the chance of seeing minky whales, basking sharks and also birdlife for the twitchers with gannets and giant skuas as part of the local wildlife.
Equestrian opportunities are also available with the Gairloch trekking centre offering treks along private pathways through forestry and streams.
Any gardeners will be interested to know that the world renowned Inverewe Gardens is close by to the cottage. Keen gardeners will know that even though it is at latitude north of Moscow, sub tropical plants from all over the world survive and in fact thrive thanks to the mild warming influence of the North Atlantic drift. April and May is one of the best times to visit as all the Rhododendrons and Azaleas are in full bloom. There is a wonderful visitors centre and restaurant to keep all members of a family happy!
As No 1 Cove is new to whichcottage, there is still some availability left for the summer and the Autumn. Anyone wishing to avoid the uncertainty of ash impacted holidays should consider looking at the wonderful self – catering option.
