Responses to “Easter lateavailability 2011”

  1. Would recommend a visit to Perthshire at Easter time as Spring is in the air and the scenery is fabulous. On our last visit we went to Scone Palace who had a great range of Easter activities including Egg hunts!
Scone Palace has so much to do with 100 acres of grounds to explore.

    Gareth Williams at
  2. Visit Loch of the Lowes and see Lady the osprey . Dogs welcome
    The Bothy
    Little Tombane, Trochry, Dunkeld, Perthshire
    Sleeps 3

    Joan Brookes at
  3. Anyone on twitter – pelase tweet this article about – and recommend these fabulous properties to your friends for an Easter break.

  4. Most of the National Trust for Scotland properties have wonderful Easter activities for children – egg hunts, easter bunnies etc! We had a fab egg hunt in Glen Affric last year when up there for Easter break – and it was free!

    Emily MacIntyre at
  5. There is an excellent Easter artisan craft fair in Inveraray in Argyll – facepainting etc to keep the kids happy too. really worth a visit if you are in the area.

    Henry Wills at
  6. We’ve just got back from Banlicken on Arran, an amazing ‘get away from it all’ experience. The house is well equipped, comfortable, and cosy in the evenings, the children could roam wild and free in the garden, up the hillside, and down to the beach. Arran is easy to get to, a short 55 min ferry and you arrive into Brodick Bay overlooked by mountains, Brodick castle and a few seals! The spring flowers were just starting to come out with lots of birds and wildlife and we had fantastic warm sunny weather. Highly recommended.

  7. Cadbury Easter Egg Trail
Brodick Castle, Garden & Country Park
    Sun 24 Apr: 12:00 – 15:00

Follow the trail, collect the clues, solve the puzzle and win a Cadbury Easter egg!
As well as the trail, there’ll be face paintings and more!

  8. The Kintail/Lochalsh area is highly recommended. There’s easy access to Skye, both via the unique Glenelg ferry and the bridge at Kyle, both 1/2 hour’s drive, as is the pictureqsue village of Plockton. Even the stunning Applecross peninsula is within a day’s drive. Inverness also is reachable within 1 1/2 hours. Nearer at hand the Lochalsh woodland garden on the loch shore is highly recommended in spring; romantic Eilean Donan castle sits on Loch Duich opposite the cottage. Views of seals, dolphins, otters, pine marten and heron are frequent. There are many walks nearby including the dramatic Falls of Glomach. For the fit, the area is host to over 20 munros, some almost on the doorstep.

Hazelbrae Cottage, sits on Loch Duich, in Letterfearn, with uninterrupted views of loch and mountains. Sleeps 4

  9. Wildlife on the island is always an attraction for visitors to Mull. Sea cruises and wildlife tours now running. Sealoch access available by lodge.

  10. The west coast of Argyll is stunningly beautiful in spring, the sunsets unbelievable and the views out to the near islands breathtaking. The tiny fishing/marina village of Craobh Haven is a perfect central place for harbour walks with sightings of seals, otters, sea eagles and the pub serves delicious local produce and a great array of single malts! The local NT Arduaine Gardens is at its best with all the rhododendrons and azaleas in full bloom. It’s only 30 mins north to the bustling town of Oban, “gateway to the isles” and 30 mins south to the amazing Mull of Kintyre with its rolling waves, long golden beaches and turquoise waters. Mullach Dubh has panoramic views to its namesake hillside and is a minute away from the habour and pub. Sleeps 6 plus cot.

  11. Stunning coastal walks from the doorstep. Peaceful setting close to picturesque harbour. Perfect for children rockpooling. Deserted beach. Many golf courses. Windsurfing nearby. Enjoy the peace and tranquility yet within easy driving for Edinburgh, East Lothian or Berwick.

  12. When you stay in this cottage you will be able to explore the timeless beauty of a refreshingly unique location. Royal Deeside and the Cairngorms appeal to travellers from across the world, all being attracted by the colourful grouse moors, native Scots Pine, highland views and misty blue mountains. The scenery here truly soothes the soul and captures the imagination. The landscape is ideal for walking, cycling and many other outdoor pursuits.
The numerous golf courses in the immediate area offer different challenges and all are set in spectacular scenery. Enjoy the castles along Deeside – from the intimate Braemar Castle to Balmoral Castle. There are many others on the Castle Trail in Aberdeenshire owned by the National Trust for Scotland: Craigevar, Crathes, Castle Fraser, Drum, Leith Hall and Fyvie Castle to name but a few! Oh – and don’t forget the distilleries – the nearest being The Lochnagar Distillery next to Balmoral.

  13. Spring in Galloway guarantees visitors a glimpse of real country life: from farm life to wildlife there is so much to see. The Wildlife Festival runs from 2 – 25 April. The holiday season has begun, but the region remains very quiet so virtually no queues anywhere. Just take a look at what’s on offer from the 7Stanes mountain bike trails and Galloway Forest events to the many gardens full of exotic plants now open until late October. And if it’s culture you’re after there are sculpture trails in the most fabulous settings. Or visit Kirkudbright for galleries and exhibitions, or Wigtown, Scotland’s very own book town with 14 bookshops including the largest second hand book shop in the country, for some amazing finds.

  14. Set in 38 acres of grazing land with horses, ponies and Highland cattle for company and access to numerous longer walks from the doorstep including the Cateran Trail, this cottage is within reach of so many fabulous attractions – Glamis Castle, Scone Palace – and there’s always something on to entertain. 22nd April at 8pm Woody Pines will be ‘kicking up a good time storm’ at http://www.birnamarts.com; 23rd & 24th April there’s a Puppet Eggstravaganza at http://www.scone-palace.co.uk with 20 min performances throughout the day; 23rd & 24th April The Scottish National Scale Model Show is at the Dewar’s Centre in Perth; 27th-29th April there’s the Perth Festival Meeting at http://www.perth-races.co.uk. There are five golf courses within a 5 minute drive and fishing on several rivers and lochs. Or…just stay put, relax, and chill out with a few massages from our wonderful on-site therapist.

  15. The East Neuk of Fife is fabulous. 10 miles from St Andrews, 30 golf courses within a 15 mile radius, award winning pub grub and farm shops, Ardross Farm Shop http://www.ardrossfarm.co.uk/ , great light for artists, super watersports facilities http://www.eliewatersports.com – Best hot chocolate in the world at the Cocoa Tree in Pittenweem http://www.thecocoatreeshop.com/ Fun day trips – Scotland’s Secret Bunker http://www.secretbunker.co.uk/ Or how about a hunting shooting fishing day http://www.countrysportscotland.com/ – so much to chose from. Alternatively, you could sit and read the paper, take the dog for a walk and have a kip!

  16. Crovie is truly a “hidden paradise” and The Mission Hall is a unique work of art in recycling the old church at the end of the village.
April and May can be the best months of the year!

  17. Come and enjoy Easter right in the heart of Inverness. Stunningly beautiful restored Victorian villa, overlooking the river and the castle. Easy access by road, rail and air.

For a list of things to do in and around the city, view the property details for Highlands; Dunvegan, 3 Culduthel Road, Inverness, or go to to http://www.scotland-holiday-cottage.com/highlands/inverness.htm where you can check availability.
