Destination Hotspots on the West Coast of Scotland

There is a stretch of the west coast of Scotland that offers everything you could possibly need for the most fabulous vacation.

There are long golden beach, turquoise waters, beautiful gardens, links golf courses and great pubs serving amazing seafood.

Plockton sits in a secluded bay overlooking Lochcarron, facing east which gives it protection from the prevailing wind. Its seafront is lined with palm trees and pretty cottages and small boats bob around in the water. If you like sailing, you will love Plockton.

Further up the coast is Applecross which is reached via the famous Bealach na Ba or “Pass of the Cattle”. The scenery is stunning and when you get to Applecross a trip to the pub is a must. The Applecross Inn serves wonderful seafood. The specials board is full of oysters, scallops, langoustines, fish and chips and more all of which can be enjoyed with great beer and a wide selection of wines. Just make sure you book a table.

Heading towards Gairloch, Redpoint Beach is a wonderful place to spend a day. Take a picnic, a book, a football and a rounders set and you will be there all day. Snooze in the sand dunes, brave the sea for a swim, walk along the wide open beach and breath in the sea air.

If you are a golfer the nine hole courses at Lochcarron and Gairloch are definitely worth a visit. Lochcarron enjoys a lovely elevated position and Gairloch is set right next to the beach.

For garden lovers a trip to Inverewe Gardens in Poolewe is a must, The gulf stream means that palm trees and all sorts of exotic trees and plants grow in abundance in this little piece of paradise.

No matter what your interests you will love visiting these hidden Scottish gems.
